After joining the Hamilton Wildcats AFC in 2005, Canadian backman Steve Bridle had the opportunity to move to Toronto and cut back on his 2+hr commute for work, eventually resulting in Steve trading in his "yellow & black" for the "navy blue" of the Central Blues prior to the start of the 2006 OAFL season. Well...he's BAAAAAAACK!
Steve Bridle had a sensational rookie season with the 'Cats back in 2005, which positioned himself as one of the Club's finalists for 'Rookie of the Year' honours that same season. Due to work commitments and a lengthy commute, Steve decided to pack-up and head east down the 403 to the "Big Smoke". Since it looked doubtful that he'd be able to re-join the 'Cats now living so far away, it was just blind luck that Bruce Parker (former Mississauga Mustang and Guelph Gargoyles founder) was looking to get a 6th Toronto-based Club entered into the OAFL for the 2006 season; the Central Blues. Coming off a fantastic rookie campaign, Steve's skills and dedication immediately catapulted him into a leadership role with the 1st year Blues, and his career continued to blossom over the next 4 seasons (40 games with the Blues).
As the 2010 season quickly approaches Steve has made the decision to come down and have a kick down the other end of the QEW, and once again looking forward to dawning the "yellow & black" of the Wildcats! Hamilton's Round #1 match-up versus the Toronto Dingos will also mark Bridle's 50th OAFL game; which is definitely quite the accomplishment and we're pleased as punch to be able to have Steve play his fiftieth in a Wildcats guernsey!
The Hamilton Wildcats AFC would like to welcome Steve back into the Den, and we look forward to playing alongside you again starting this coming Saturday, as it will definitely be much more delightful than playing against such a tenacious defender. Welcome home Bridle!
