In a heated match, Gympie Lions overcame a fired-up Columbia to win 2-1 in their division two grand final in Gympie on Saturday night.
Columbia got off to a great start after a sizzling shot from Liam Watson found the back of the net.
Heading into the break 1-0, Lions knew they had to find a quick goal to get back into the match.
Coming out of half-time eager to score, Lions' midfielder Geoff Pelling slotted the equaliser.
It was then that Lions' leading goal scorer Jayden Davey scored a penalty kick to win the match 2-1. Lions' player Jacob Allen said it was a very close bout but that his team managed to finish the game off stronger than Columbia.
"We have been neck and neck with Columbia this season and it's great to end up on top," he said.
