Wet weather protocols

Please see below for details of an official BASL Directive that relates to wet weather.

Junior matches will not be cancelled just because of rain - soccer is a winter sport. However if the pitch conditions are deemed unsafe or unsuitable by BASL, then BASL will call of Under 6 to Under 10 matches on Friday night or Saturday morning.

Note that we will also post on our website, Facebook page and twitter any wet weather cancellations or modifications.

BASL Wet Weather Protocols

2015 YMCA Junior Competitions

BASL Administration will only call off Under 6 to Under 10 matches on Friday or Saturday morning if weather is seen as unsuitable for play due to constant and forecast bad weather or council ground closure. If matches are cancelled, notification will be made on the BASL website, BASL Facebook page and on 3BO FM with an email sent to club Junior Coordinators. Priority is via BASL web & Facebook Page.

Senior & Junior Competitive Competition

Only the Referee appointed to the match or the local Council can call off a competitive fixture, and will do so where they believe the pitch is unplayable and/or unsafe to play on. Local Council may close a ground during the week for a specified period or after an inspection with League and Council Officials, in which case teams, coaches, and players will be notified on the day the decision is made. If no notification has been given teams, coaches, and players will have to attend the designated match as per schedule and wait for Referee’s decision. Competitive games cancelled due to weather or pitch conditions will have their game rescheduled to a later date, noting this may not be a normal scheduled game day.
