Last Week’s Games
The 19’s continued on with their solid form defeating Blackburn Pioneers 14.11.95 to 4.1.25. The ‘Big H’ Harry Lacchiana continued his great form in front of goals by kicking six, with Tom Girvan and Tom Veitch both booted two goals. Veitch was also amongst our best along with Ben Peters and Dan Smart.
The Twos had their best win of the year against top-four side Kilsyth, 10.6.66 to 9.10.64. The game started tightly (and also controversially with the field umpire overriding a Nick Coad snap for goal and changed to a point)however their second quarter effort of five goals to two set up the win. With Ben Field, Sam Pentney and Josh Reid showing great run all day, big man Ryan Higgins dominating and Matt Anderson doing a great job in the last line of defence, we had a preview of what we can expect form this group next year. Kilsyth pressed hard in the last quarter to get within a point, we managed to scramble a point with only a minute left. This gave Kilsyth the ball and they had it on their forward line in no time. Could we fall after leading all day… enter stage left Andrew “Buck” Rogers who grabbed the ball, shrugged at least four tackles then booted the ball 60 meters away from goal just as the siren rang! A truly magnificent and well deserved win by the boys
The Ones were up against Kilsyth with another close result, going down by just three goals, 12.9.81 to 15.9.99. Once again Graeme Johns starred with seven goals, to finish the season with 64 and finish third on the goal kicking table.
