Whilst we were unable to secure a win across the three grades we were proud of all of our players and know that improvement will continue as the season unfolds. Our best on the day were Chris Allen in the ‘Ones’, Matt McBride in the Reserves while Noah Bennett stood out in the 19’s.
This week we return home to Surrey Park to take on the Glen Waverley Hawks. With percentage only separating third and seventh this is the classic eight point game. With a number of key players, including Ruckman Alex Hocking, Forward Graeme Johns, Dylan Westaway (who is probably leading the B & F) and Mark Matheson all returning from injury into the senior side we’re expecting another great game at home for our supporters.
We once again thank all those that have committed to Surrey Park in 2016 and purchased a membership, if you are yet to do so please sign up at the downstairs bar.
Thanks to all our sponsors and particularly Surrey Barbers in Union Road who have kindly offered a 20% discount to Surrey Members as well as providing match day awards. Please make sure you support Adrian Loverso and the team.
We are pleased to advise that we have locked in a speaker next Thursday night from 8pm at the club. Tom Petroro, a prominent AFL player manager and MD of Stride Sports Management manages some of the best players in the game today; including Nick Riewoldt, Joel Selwood, Todd Goldstein, Nat Fyfe, as well as many young stars including Marcus Bontempelli, Jesse Hogan, and Lachlan Whitfield. Stride also manages our very own Zac Clarke from Surrey Park. We look forward to seeing our members and supporters on the night.
SPFC is proud to support the Surrey Women's Action Group (SWAG), a group of local residents’ with the aim of contributing to charities that support those impacted by domestic violence. The group will be holding its first fund raiser at Surrey Park on Saturday 18th June 2016. Afternoon tea is provided and champagne for purchase – each person is asked to bring a donation as the cost of entry. For further details, search Surrey Women’s Action Group in Facebook.
