The 19’s set the tone early with a great win – working their way into the game, it was pleasing to see James Box chosen as best in his first game back at Surrey in a few years – he receives the Surrey Barbers voucher.
The Reserves started brightly enough but couldn’t maintain the pace through the entire match. Well done to Bailey Jones for his performance and receives the Aqualink Café Voucher.
Finally it was the game we were all looking forward to; we had a cracking day and the community was out in force supporting the group as they took on one of the flag fancies. We were thrilled to see such an even performance from all over the ground and the game remained tight right to the end.
Credit goes to our boys for sticking at it and coming home with an outstanding victory. Seven goals to ‘Zoop’ was a highlight, as was great games from Zach Tempany, Ryan Kennedy and Kane Henden.
Whilst it is great to get a first up victory, Scott was quick to point out that there are 17 rounds to go and this is just the first step.
This week we take on Coldstream in a game that will again test us and our on field progress.
A call out to Surrey Hills, East Camberwell and Surrey Park past players, our past players reunion day is set for 28 May so mark it in your calendar.
Go Surrey!
