The top-of-the-table under 19’s took on second-placed Warrandyte in what proved to be a thrilling encounter. Surrey Park got off to a great start leading five goals to one at quarter time. After that, things got a little tighter as Warrandyte fought back, however our boys were able to retain their composure took out a two-point victory, 7.11.53 to 7.9.51. It was great to see the boys work through another test and take the points.

With the scene set for a big first XIII game, we looked to young players Richard Scott, Tom Ross, Blake Mios (in his first senior game), Riley Tempany (also in his first senior game), Brandon Bird and Josh Garvin to see how they would match up against their opponents.
Surrey managed the first goal not long after the first bounce, then a dour struggle ensued with Donvale scoring a late goal to lead at quarter time by 2 points. With Co-Vice Captain Liam Doidge out of the team, the other Co-Vice Captain Luke Francis went down with injury early leaving a big hole up forward and in the ruck.
Donvale managed to get away from us in the second term, piling on eight goals to our two, and we had more injury concerns with Captain Joe Crabtree going off after a big knock to the head.
Surrey was simply outplayed in the third and fourth quarters, our team was not able to match it with their opponents. Final scores were Surrey Park 5.7.37, defeated by Donvale 19.14.128.
