Under 19s Coach's Report
A significant opportunity awaited us against Mooroolbark and we went in well prepared after a good week on the track. We planned to maintain our focus on quick attacking ball movement and working hard when we weren’t in possession. The first quarter was an arm wrestle with good attack on the footy by both teams. At quarter time we acknowledged some of the excellent pressure acts, especially by our forwards and aimed to clean up a few areas to help us hit the scoreboard. The response was immediate across all lines and we worked as effectively as a team as we have all year. We dominated clearances, played for each other and converted on the scoreboard to take a handy lead into half time. Whilst the effort remained, the second half of the game was quite scrappy. Some skill errors and inaccurate kicking for goal reduced our effectiveness, however to the team’s credit we were able to finish with a solid win. We move one game clear in fourth with a big challenge against the 3rd placed team this week. Another great opportunity.

Reserves Coachs Report
Our boys went to Mooroolbark with a determined mindset as we knew they would be a step up in class from previous weeks and I asked them all what do we stand for. From the 1 st qtr we were tested however after the initial 5 mins we wrestled control of the grd and footy to clearly have the better of possession which wasn’t in line with the score as they lead at qtr time, the 2nd qtr saw us dominate time in fwd half and kick 4 goals to 1 to lead by 15 pts at halftime. Our pressure and structure was terrific across the board, the 3rd saw them kick the first goal but again we maintained control of the footy and really should’ve run away with the score as we had many repeat fwd entries without scoring which was frustrating. The las qtr followed similar pattern they threw everything they had and we sustained their pressure to have majority of the play to run out with a 10 point win. Thought we were clearly the better side on the day our fwd half time was significant and something we do have to improve to get more reward on the scoreboard. Our on ball guys were super and again our back 6 was very solid with pressure, intensity and effort from all lines very pleasing. Thanks to our supporters who travelled we all appreciate your loud cheers.

Senior Coach's Report
This week we travelled out Mooroolbark for a vital clash, a win would see us the close the gap to 1 game for a spot in the final 4.Our first quarter saw our skill level let us down as we continued to hand the ball back to Mooroolbark and they kicked away to a 19 point lead. Our 2nd quarter was much better as we got right on top but inaccurate kicking cost us as we registered 3.5 to 0.1 for the quarter and took a 3 point lead into half time. The 3rd quarter was a tight tussle with both sides only managing 1 goal as we extended our lead to 4 points heading into the last term.We kicked the first goal of the last quarter but to Mooroolbark’s credit they fought their way back and in a tight finish came away with a 1 point win.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support us, we hope to see you back at Walker Park next week.
