The Mitcham Football Club would like to acknowledge yet another huge milestone ahead of tomorrows big clash with Montrose. We would like to congratulate Lachlan Rudd on his 150th game for the club. Ruddy came to the club 11 years ago in 2010 to play Under 18’s with several of his mates and has never looked back. In 2012 Lachlan moved up into the Reserves and has now cemented himself as a crucial part of the Seniors back six. He won a Reserves premiership in 2015 and was a key part of the Senior premiership in 2019.
As much as Ruddy is one of the most exciting players you will see running around on a Saturday he is loved even more off the field. A tremendous clubman who goes out of his way for everyone involved at the club both on and off the field.
Club President Matt McCubbin said “Ruddy is genuinely one of the nicest blokes I have met at our footy club in a very long time. His attitude both on and off the field is perfect and his ability to impact a game of footy isn’t bad either. It’s been a terrific journey for Ruddy from Under 18’s in a side that struggled each week to being part of some of the most important years the club has ever been through. We have had highs and lows but Ruddy has stuck with us for every bit of the ride and for that we can’t thank him enough. 150 games if a huge milestone in local footy these days and if there is one bloke that deserves a win tomorrow it's definitely Ruddy. A terrific player, clubman and even more important a terrific mate and I wish him all the best for his 150th game tomorrow.”
Senior Coach Neil Winterton said “ Ruddy has been an outstanding servant for the football club since my arrival. His attack on the footy is first class every week and he has become a crowd favourite for his ability to tuck the ball under his arm and break the lines with his leg speed. He has had to play above his height every week and never once has he complained or not given everything he has. Well done to Ruddy on a fantastic career so far with the Mitcham Football Club."
Reserves Coach Steve Jordan said "Ruddy operates on Actions are louder than words…courageous, selfless and Team 1st is why he bleeds Yellow and Black, not many around the club that would be anymore respected than him, and that talks to not just on the field but more importantly off it! 150 games is a great achievement and one he truly deserves, Congratulations.”
On behalf of the entire club we wish Ruddy all the best for his 150th game and we hope the boys can carry him off the ground with a big win.
