Round 6 and we were greeted by wintery conditions THIS WEEK with only a couple of wins across our games. Netball girls won one, lost one while the Football boys only got the chocolates in the reserves. Under 19s are still trying to find the right mix and give every lad an opportunity as we balance having 30 plus boys on the list. Reserves whose depth is being tested due to senior injuries continue to find a way with another soild win. The Seniors far from full strength were right in the game at half time and only a point down, but a 3rd QTER Laspe had them going down by by just 12 points in the end. NEXT WEEK we are off to Bayswater and hopefully see the return of some key personal. BIG THANK YOU to The Mitcham Volunteers who worked tirelessly in tough conditions on Saturday and to the East Ringwood Football Club for joining us in the rooms after the game. DON’T Forget to CHECK IN Today / Monday when our resident photographers Debbie Stingell and Graham Bradkte will have some great shots of the weekends action
UNDER 19s COACHES REPORT
In patches we we able to compete with East Ringwood, who based on their previous efforts deserved to come into the game favourites.
The conditions early made it difficult for both sides to play a great style of football, so we asked for our boys to compete, and made reference to the fact that the side that was Harder, Stronger for Longer would benefit. Throughout the day we we unable to peg back that desperately needed goal or two, that would have allowed us to put the scoreboard pressure on that so much strive for.
A third quarter effort was terrific although we were unable to turn our many forward entries into goals, kicking 1 goal 7.
We did give ourselves an opportunity at the 3/4 time break, however credit to the Roos who were able to kick a very early last quarter goal and keep us scoreless for the last quarter.

RESERVES COACHES REPORT
Winter was here on Saturday with cold and wet conditions and coming off a poor performance last week we had to step up against a very good side. We started well with our pressure around the contest as we had advantage in the ruck, our structure was back on track as the oppo struggled to get it out of their back half, inaccurate kicking by us in the 2nd qtr meant we only held a 4 point lead at half time. Having majority of the play we knew that if we sustain our pressure and structure in the second half the game would open up for us and it did with a 4 goal to zero score line and the win by 21 points. Our back 6 six were super all day and our mid’s & ruck was just too strong for East Ringwood, very pleased with the win that now see’s us 5 and 1 after 6 rounds, we head to Bayswater this week for another good test, appreciate everyone that came down in cold conditions to support the boys.

SENIOR COACHES REPORT
This week we hosted the in form East Ringwood team who had come off a close win against Mooroolbark the previous week. On a typical cold and windy Melbourne day it made moving the ball with any fluidity really difficult, it was going to come down to who adapted better to the conditions and who was able to get on top around the stoppages. For the first half it was a tight even contest with the pressure from both sides at a high level, goals were difficult to come by and East Ringwood held a 1 point margin at half time. In the 3rd quarter East Ringwood adapted much better to the conditions, getting on top around the footy and playing a territory based game as opposed to the possession based game we attempted to play, this allowed them to open up a 13 point margin heading into the final term. In the final quarter we played a smarter brand and were able to get back into the game but could only trim the margin to 12 pointsWill Gordon got right back to his best footy dominating in the ruck, while Jarrod West was hard around the contest all day. Thanks to everyone who came out to support us in the cold and wet conditions, we hope to see you out at Bayswater next week as we look to get back on track.
