Not the ideal start to our finals campaign today with both the Under 19s and Reserves going down to East Burwood and Boronia respectfully. Under 19s never really got going as a more skilled and Physical East Burwood out played our boys. Reserves will have the old saying bad kicking is bad football ringing in their ears tonight as they missed some crucial shots on goal to go down by 8 points. The Good News is both teams get a chance for redemption NEXT SATURDAY when they play in the Preliminary final. BIG THANK THANK YOU to Debbie Stingell for the Great Photos
UNDER 19s Coaches Report
Season 2019 started with our squad focussed on two main things:
1. Have Fun
2. Make the top 4 and play finals
Come the end of the Home and Away season we were able to establish 2nd spot on the ladder providing us with a double chance in finals, and along the way had many a laugh, provided by a group of boys that have shown plenty of skill, perseverance and resilience.Saturday with a Grand Final place at stake we gave ourselves a real chance so long as we stuck to our structures and showed a willingness to compete and fight until the end. Unfortunately a telling breeze that assisted our opposition kick 6 unanswered Q1 goals proved to be to bigger mountain for us to climb. There’s a lot that’s good about what our boys have done all season and we’ve just got to remind ourselves what we’re capable of. Our boys will use the excitement of heading into a Preliminary Final this coming weekend to take the opportunity to bring our best stuff. This weekend the team will again show the energy, intensity and that purpose about what we do, which has been there throughout our season when we have hit a bump in the road. Our boys will embrace the opportunity ahead this weekend and look to deliver an effort that has been displayed many times throughout Season 2019.# wecanbeheroesjustforoneday # strongandbold

Reserves Coaches Report
Not at our best this week as we went down to Boronia by 8 points, with a significant breeze to one end we didn’t make the most of our chances when we kicked with it booting 4 goals 11. We came out red hot but only managed 3 goals 5 in the 1st qtr and really should have made more of the opportunity, they kicked 4 goals in the 2nd to take a lead into the halftime. In the 3rd we dominated once again but kicking poorly only managed 1 goal 6 for our efforts, not good enough in a final and we were made to pay as Boronia scored twice in the last to take the win. Dryser across half back was super, Toby again was solid with DJ efforts in the ruck just terrific, our mids were good as we broke even with them. It is up to us now to go to another gear which we definitely have, we had more of the play but didn’t get reward we should have, so we know what to improve for this week. Thanks to our Supporters they were great!
