LAST WEEK our netball girls got beaten by 5 goals in the first semi-final Friday night at Knox against Norwood, with our footy teams heading down to Mulgrave to take on the lions. Hats off to the Mulgrave footy Club who have been doing it tough this season as their main oval is under repair, but it didn't stop them from putting up good fights in the unders and reserves and taking the points in the seniors. The under 19s finally found their form again recording a solid 35 point win over the lions. Scott with 3 majors was our leading goal scorer while Best Players were Hallo, Ross, Prout, Stingell, Jarvis, and Veenendaal. Reserves continued there up and down form this season leading from start to finish Smyth with 3 majors led the goal kickers as Blanche, Ward, Arguello, Smyth, Finch, and Ferlazzo all named in the best. Seniors were again disappointing going down to a Mulgrave team that simply wanted it more and with two games to go there’s plenty to play for. . Joseph and Toohey with 2 goals each led the scoring as Guerin, Cherry, Elms, Toohey, Gordon and Winterton were all named in the best.
NEXT WEEK we host Mooroolbark and hope the Mustangs enjoy our hospitality before, during and after the game. As NEXT WEEK is our final home game of the season we thank ALL our Match day volunteers, but please keep an eye out for the call to arms over the next 3 weeks as the Mitcham Football Club looks to deliver another successful Division four finals series. Next Saturday night is also the major draw so if you still need a ticket see Macca or Dane and don’t forget Presentation night Thursday night 27th September...

Slipping behind Mulgrave to 7th on the ladder, ironically our opportunity to play finals was still in our hands so this was a must. Mulgrave got off to a flier & we could see how they beat 3rd placed Croydon the week before & it appeared we would have our hands full but even being 17pts down at the 1st break we felt like we were well in it.
The 2nd 1/4 on the back of tails in the ruck clarky & Jacko dominating the clearances giving our forwards plenty of chances which they accepted led by yugga cam & Jules wiping the deficit away & piling on a game breaking lead
The backline attacked mids worked hard & our ball usage was exciting our seasons best 1/4 to set the win up at the main break
Mulgrave’s season was now on the line & they fought hard in the second half but we were in the driver’s seat & never let them mount a challenge to run out comfortable winners in I think our best win as team for the season We now look towards Mooroolbark this week in what is now a mini knockout final for 4th

Reserves Coaches Report
Very difficult ground conditions we were met with on Saturday at Mully but the boys were up to challenge in a hard fought win by 3 goals. Our first qtr was super as our pressure and attack on the footy was the highlight, Weazel with 2 goals showed his class and we were clearly on top, however the 2nd qtr we struggled as Mulgrave fought back to go into the main break even. After a stern word our boys stepped up and kicked away in the 3rd to take a 4 goal lead at 3 qtr time. Roddy, Tsolos and Toby on the ball really got us going, our back six were great also as we held them off in the last to get the four points. Thanks to our supporters for making their way to a cold wet Mulgrave

Senior Coaches Report
This week we travelled out to Mulgrave in a must win game to keep our hopes of staying in the division alive. With Mulgrave getting their ground redone we played on their back oval, we knew this would be a big advantage to Mulgrave and we would have to start well to combat this. Our first quarter was poor with skill errors and poor discipline giving away 4 25m penalties in the first quarter, leading us to trail by 14 points at quarter time. Our 2nd quarter was a little better as we had the ascendency for the back half of the quarter, but we only managed to peg the margin back to 13 points. Mulgrave had the better of the 3rd quarter and extended their lead out to 19 points at 3 quarter time. With so much on the line we started the last quarter well kicking the first 2 goals in quick time to reduce the margin to 7 points. Unfortunately, we couldn’t close the gap as the margin hovered around that for much of the quarter, until a late goal to Mulgrave sealed their victory.Riley Nicholas continued his great form, and Zach Elms was very dangerous up forward for us.
Thanks to everyone who came out in the cold conditions, we look forward to seeing you all at our last home game for the season next week, will still plenty to play for
