All 3 Mitcham Senior teams had a good hit out in wet conditions at Fred Geale Oval in Croydon against Bayswater in the under 19s and Ringwood in the Seniors and Reserves. The under 19s had an extended bench and had some great passages of play with a number of new boys standing out. Reserves also looked good in patches while the seniors fielded a very young side with 10 new players. Jake Parente was very good up forward while new players Riley Nicholas was fantastic all day with his attack on the footy and ball use. Tom Birkett gave some good drive out of defence and Dave McCardle was miserly down back as well. With no official score being kept most had us in front by a couple of goals. BIG thank you to The Ringwood boys for hosting the game and good luck in season 2018 and thanks also to the Bayswater under 19s for the hit out and we will see them during the year.
One sour note for the day was Young Cody McDonald in his first game for the club suffered a serious finger injury that required surgery this afternoon… We wish Cody a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back out on the park real soon #strongandbold
