LAST WEEK Not the script we had in mind for our last home game of 2017 against the Knox Falcons who gave us a football lesson last week. Maybe the MCG of the East worked against us as the Knox senior coach pointed out how delighted he and his boys were when they drove thought the gate to see the condition of the ground as the rain pelted down. ‘’Our ground is under water and you wouldn’t even know it’s been raining here Knox’s David Madigan said”’ Well the Falcons certainly enjoyed the conditions winning the 2nd XVIII by 74 points and the 1st XVIII by 99 points. All single goal kickers in the twos with McKeown, Tsolos, Muscara, Wylde, Sciortino and Rambaldo named in the best. Hoegel booted 4 in the seniors and was named best along with Whitchell, Taylor, Willenberg, Joseph and Raath.

Some what of a tough assignment against the best side in it Knox ultimately just too good as they dominated the 1st half kicking 10 goals to 1, our boys were shown the standard we must be at to compete at the top level albeit to be fair our list of injuries 15 to date hasn't helped. We didn't throw it away though with a doer second half and outscoring them in the last qtr to finish off well, Tsolos was outstanding once again, Brad in the ruck showed his consistency Tom Blanche was super with his run while Nicko and Doof presented well all day. Our boys are very keen to get the win this week and rack up 10 wins for the year, great support on Saturday thanks to all.

Senior Coaches Report
Our last home game for the season we faced top of the table Knox. In the first half we played a good brand of footy, tackling hard and using the ball well at times and getting it in quickly to our forwards where Jayden Hoegel in particular looked very dangerous. The 2nd half was a different story as we dropped away defensively and became unaccountable especially around the stoppages and allowed Knox to get their game going. In the end we were shown a valuable lesson of what a disciplined side who work for each other and play selfless footy look like, this is the level we have to get to to become a successful division 2 football club. Thanks to all the supporters who came out for a final home game of the season, we appreciate the support.
