It is with great sadness that we inform our members and supporters that Vic Dunkinson has passed away peacefully at the age of 94.
Vic was named a life member of the football club in 1997. A place where he, his boys and their families have shared a lifetime of memories.
A great person around the club for so many years but it wasn't just his work at the club he was known for. He was one of the Mitcham legends! A bloke who built the first house on his street (Alexander St, Mitcham) and lived there until only a few years ago. You didn't go far without running into Vic and like any good old digger, he was always keen to stop and share some stories from the good old days.
I was fortunate enough to live next door to Vic over the last few years. He had time for everyone and was always excited to hear what was happening around the club and then of course to let you know the part he had played in the club throughout his time. He was a pretty happy man the day after our Reserves and Seniors premiership in 2015. Standing there with two premiership cups was what he had wanted to do for a long long time!
Vic will be sadly missed by all of us at the club and also the wider Mitcham community.
Condolences to Gary, Billy, Rob and their extended families and friends.
RIP VIC
Matt McCubbin
(President, Mitcham FC)
