Not the result we were looking for in the Seniors as we lost by 5 points in a very good game of footy, against good opposition in front of a good crowd @ The MCG of the East. Reserves faired a little better winning by under a kick. The real winner last week was community football as we hosted our Anzac Round Presidents lunch featuring the grandfather of Anzac football Kevin Sheedy and rising star Christian Petracca. Over 140 guests enjoyed a scrumptious lunch provided by one of our major sponsors Niko’s Tavern and were thoroughly entertained by Sheeds and Christian. Phil Murton CEO of the EFL also spoke and was excellent with a great insight into all things EFL. He also presented Aaron Lloyd with a services to football award. The pre game was capped off with a fitting tribute to The Anzacs, a BIG THANK to Craig Willis the voice of the AFL and JNR secretary Glenn Newham for their assistance in putting together our audio.
The Mitcham Football Club Comedy Night looms large with this year’s event featuring two of Australia’s Best comics in Dave Hughes and Anthony "Lehmo" Lehmann. Senior club book via team app, and Junior Club book via your team manger - $50 entry gets you dinner and entertainment drinks at bar prices. It’s a great night, family and friends most welcome
Reserves Coaches Report
Walker Park was looking a picture on Saturday and the boys were ready to go especially playing on the ANZAC round, we were fortunate to hear from The master coach Kevin Sheedy during our pre game and his words were as simple as it gets "Switch On" from the start of your warm up and take that into the game. We started well with some clear possession of the footy, our attack and pressure was terrific, unfortunately we couldn't make them pay on the scoreboard producing 2 goals 8 to halftime missing an opportunity to be 3-4 goals up. Wanny came out hard in the 3rd and missed just as many opportunities as we had leaving the scores pretty much even going into the last. Kicking against the breeze we had some trouble getting it out of our defensive 50 but to give credit our back 6 were sensational, Sully held down CHB and Dicko held their big FF all day allowing BJ to run off half back, it was an arm wrestle down to the end and we were a bit lucky to get the last goal and win 3pts. Our effort was outstanding our decision making we need to improve on but 2 wins is a great start with plenty of upside for our group. Thanks to all the supporters you were super as always.

Senior Coaches Report
We played our first home game of the season in round 2 and came up against Wantirna Sth who made the grand final last season, they had also touched us up in the final game last season so we knew they were a quality outfit. We kicked against a slight breeze in the 1st quarter and it was a real arm wrestle with no side being able to gain any ascendency and we trailed by 1 goal at the break. In the 2nd quarter we were able to play some really good footy with some crisp ball movement and good aggression around the contest, if not for some undisciplined acts we would've had a larger lead than 14 point margin we took to the break. In the 3rd quarter Wanny Sth started to gain the ascendency around the stoppages and hit the scoreboard with a 5 goal quarter to take a 2 point lead into the final quarter. In a real dog fight of a last quarter both sides have everything unfortunately we were wasteful in front of goal kicking 1.5 for the quarter to go down by 5 points. Zac McCubbin was fantastic all day and kicked 3 super goals and Will Gordon battled hard all day in the ruck against a quality opponent to give us some good usage. We learnt some valuable lessons from the weekend we will look to put those into practice this week against Waverley Blues. Thanks to all the supporters who came down to cheer us on your support is always greatly appreciated.
