Unfortunately we couldn’t repeat the heroics of our first round victory against Bayswater this week as our Seniors and Reserves went down to the Kangaroos out at the home of the division one grand final. Our depth is being really tested at the moment but we did manage to blood another Senior Player in Dylan Wylde which made the 36th player that has played in the ones this season. The Unders finally finished off a game by over running Mooroolbark out at Mooroolbark in what was a must win game for them. Great to see spirits still very high among the group, with a great night had by all at the Players iPod shuffle night and what about Carbo De Aizpurua who featured on channel 31 as this week’s footy hero. Not sure if it was a documentary or an episode of ‘This is your life’ but it certainly was great viewing which had Cam Taylor rubbing his hands together as Carbo, Winno, Macca, Robbie and Zac will all get hit with hefty media fines as even Kleiny could find himself in the book.
Great to have EFL Board member Kerry Freer agree to MC our SOLD OUT ladies lunch with Samuel Johnson and Dave O’Neil on august the 13th, the girls are still looking for donations to make this one a beauty. The reverse draw tickets are NOW on sale so make sure you see Macca or Dane with Presentation night details to be released soon.
The Junior Club have 3 teams - the under 11s and under 17s playing NEXT WEEK for the opportunity to play in the grand final and the Girls under 15 playing in a qualifying final. The under 11s are out at Knox at 10.55 am and the under 17s FTG at 2.30 pm and Girls at the Basin. NO DOUBT the Mitcham faithful will be out watching our young charges doing the club proud. Under 19s Coaches Report
It was a must win game against Mooroolbark on Saturday with both sides even on points trying to cement a spot inside the top 4. Our boys started reasonably well but let Mooroolbark stay with us in the first half. Our attack on the footy was much improved in the second half and our tackling and physicality was the best we had seen for the year. We managed to kick away mid-way through the final term and it was enough to hold off our opposition with a four goal win. Ben Smith, Liam Williamson, David Giles and Tom Wilson played outstanding footy and were by far our best players. Was good to get a win without our guns all firing. Shows we have plenty of improvement and with some players to come back from injury in coming weeks it puts us in a very good spot to play finals footy. Thanks to our supporters for coming out to support us before heading over to Bayswater for the senior matches. Another standalone game this week v 3rd place Wantirna Sth at home. Look forward to backing up what was a very good win last week!

Reserves Coaches Report
Saturday saw us play the top side who have only lost 1 game so far so a big challenge for our boys, we started well kicking the first 2 goals and really played with great pressure and accountability in the 1st qtr. We couldn’t say the same for the 2nd where Bayswater got on top and kicked away to have a 4-5 goal lead at the main break. Our ability to be consistent in our pressure has been an area we haven’t managed to achieve to date. Our second half was similar to the 1st qtr where we continued to give great effort and our pressure was right up there, once again the old injury list keeps growing as we were down to 1 on the bench which made it very difficult to use the rotations we wanted. Toddy rucked all day and was clearly our best as he dominated that position, Bluey and Beags were terrific also on the ball, Ches,Fos,Georgy and our back six were solid all day. We are never satisfied with a loss of course, our effort and endeavour again I couldn’t question our challenge to improve has to come by being more consistent as when we play like we know we can we are top 4 side no doubt. Thanks to all our supporters that came out on a cold day we very much appreciate you being there to cheer us on!

Senior Coaches Report
This week we had a tough game against top of the ladder Bayswater out on their home ground. We knew that we would have to bring our best footy to be competitive with them. Unfortunately our first quarter was very poor and put us on the back foot for the rest of the game. We battled hard in the 2nd and 3rd quarters to make it a scrap but we were finding it very hard to get any clean ball across half forward which made scoring very difficult. The last quarter saw the margin blow right out with our interchange extremely hampered for much of the afternoon. It was a good example of the level we need to get to if we want to be a top side in division 2. Well done to Dylan Wilde who played his first senior game for the club. Once again thanks to all the supporters who came out in the cold wintery conditions to support, your dedication is much appreciated.
