A BIG Thank you to The Belgrave FC for being excellent hosts in a time where finding grounds and clubs to play practice matches against is very difficult. Belgrave’s ground was excellent condition and all the games were played in good spirit
Under 19's:
The clash against Belgrave was a great chance for us to practise the game style we have been working on over the past few weeks. The team's focus was to be hard at the footy, bold when moving the ball and to work hard defensively when we weren't in possession. The boys controlled possession for much of the game and the scoreboard reflected not only our work defensively but how well we moved the ball going forward. Unfortunately during the course of the game we lost Roddy with a broken collarbone. His attack on the footy can't be questioned and we wish him well for a speedy recovery. James Quilty
Reserves:
Solid hit out on Saturday against Belgrave they were hard at it and gave us great game. I was really pleased with our pressure and effort all day, we worked hard on our defensive structure which was a big improvement from the week before. We had a number of blokes playing their first game for the year which was great now it’s time to build, we were lucky to have some great experience in the side this week with Pimmy having his first hit out and kicking 7, Whitta playing 3 qtr’s for us, Wu helped out also and some bloke called Simon Godfrey pulled the boots on and wound back the clock. Still plenty to work on this week in our last game before the season proper. Steve Jordan
Seniors:
This week’s practice match against Belgrave presented us with a much different proposition than the one we experienced the week before against Mulgrave. It was played on a much smaller ground against a bigger bodied side. The first quarter was very scrappy and contested and featured a number of turnovers by us. We adjusted very well to the conditions of the match in the 2nd quarter and got right on top courtesy of better skills and a lift in forward pressure. The 2nd half was a pretty even contest but we were able to show a number of positive signs and continue to work on areas that we needed to address. Some players who stood out were Jayden Hoegel who's attack on the ball and the man was first class, and Jules Petracca who was the skipper for the day and really led from the front with his work rate and presence around the footy. All in all another positive tune up for round 1, looking forward to our last practice match next week against old Geelong. Neil Winterton
At this stage THIS WEEK last practise game will be @ Heatherdale Reserve, Purches Street Mitcham where we will take on Old Geelong from the VAFA. Great opportunity to get along and see how the Tigers are shaping up for 2015.
