The Mitcham Football Club is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Blue Ribbon Foundation for season 2013 and beyond.
The EFL have been supporting this extremely important foundation for several years now. The Tigers have decided to extend that support from a club level for what we believe, is an extremely worthy cause within our community.
Senior Vice President Dane Wilson explains the club has been considering a move like this over several years.
"Our committee have been considering the option of supporting a community based organisation for the last few years. Our club now finds ourself in a stable enough position off-field and can afford to put some extra time into an organisation that we feel provides a great service not only in our local community but throughout the entire community".
Mitcham's Round 2 clash v Whitehorse Pioneers will be played for the "Blue Ribbon Cup". Both clubs see this as an opportunity to highlight the work of our local police officers and the important role they play throughout our local municipality. There will be a strong presence from the local police force in attendance not only at the game but as guests at the first Presidents Luncheon of 2013.
One person who will be in attendance is Blue Ribbon Foundation CEO, Neil Soullier;
"The Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation is delighted by Mitcham's offer to form a stronger and continuous partnership between our organisations. Community engagement is such an important part of our mission, especially when it can be done in conjunction with existing activities.
We remember police officers who have fallen in the line of duty; officers who were doing their job of keeping our communities safe. Sport is such a big part of every community and I could not think of a better way to honour their memories than by enjoying the freedoms they have helped to provide.
Through this partnership everyone involved with the Mitcham Football Club, from players to officials, spectators to sponsors will be able to make a positive and measurable contribution to communities across Victoria as we build new and improved emergency facilities in public hospitals.
We are grateful for the new partnership and look forward to also contributing to the future of the Mitcham Football Club when and where we can."
The Mitcham Football Club are extremely happy to be apart of what we believe will be a long and prosperous relationship in 2013 and for many years to come.
Further details of the Round 2 clash including the Presidents luncheon will be available in coming days.
