Q began his Mitcham Footy Club journey in 2001 in the under 18’s at the club. After making his Senior Debut in 2002, Q was named senior captain of the footy club in 2008 and over the next 6 years he went on to be one the best captains the club has ever had. While he didn’t have the success that some of the previous captains had enjoyed, it was the way he went about it that earnt him the respect of everyone involved….on and off the field.
After retiring Q took on the very important job of under 19s coach a job that he did for 4 years. There are so many young players currently at the club that have benefited from his leadership and experience and it shows each and every time one of them is elevated into the senior side.
After 17 years outstanding service as a player, senior captain, team runner, water boy, under 19’s coach and the countless hours of volunteer work at the club - James Quilty is a very worthy life member.
