Round 1 started with mixed results for the OFCFNC.
NETBALL :
A - Olinda 31 vs Seville 32.
The A Graders took on newcomers Seville at Monbulk as our court hasn't been finished yet. The scores through the match were tight and infact, a shot was taken just before the whistle but the ball went in after the whistle and this denied a tied match. Allman (15) And Taylor (14) were the keys to scoring and Sam Royce and Bec Gray in the best players.
A - Olinda 27 vs Seville 42.
The B team were outclassed in this contest by Seville. Katie Stevens was strong up front (16), Bernie Fitzgerald, Katie and Helen Wositzky in the best players.
FOOTBALL :
U18s - Olinda 107 vs Seville 37.
The 18s started the year in great fashion with a solid win. They took a 70 point lead at halftime and kept it for the remainder. Walter and Skudutis both kicked 3 goals with the skipper, Owen Raskewicz and Brin Owen in the best players.
2nds - Olinda 34 vs Seville 90.
The 2nds game was very tight for 3 quarters of the match but Seville slammed on 7 goals to 1 in the 3rd term to blow us away. The veterans Tim Wall and Andy Greenall were our best for the day. Plenty of boys playing senior football for the 1st time and will get better.
1sts - Olinda 124 vs Seville 73.
The Senior side took a while to get going and at 1/2 time were still trying to gel together. One thing they do not lack in 2009 is fitness, they went from a 2 goal deficit at 1/2 time to a 1 goal lead at 3/4 time and then piled on 7 unanswered goals in the last term to finish all over Seville. Returning 2005 Premiership player Jimmy Reid kicked 3 goals, Nicky Broomhall, Tommy "The Future" Millwood and Shaun Grogan were in the best for the Bloods !
The OFCFNC would like to wish you all a Happy Easter and make sure you drive safely on the roads if you are going away !
