Last weekend saw the OFCFNC take the drive out to Healesville FNC to battle the "Valley Bloods" with mixed results again.
In Netball, the A & B Graders continue to work really hard but are coming up against some outstanding opposition. There is no question they have improved since 2009, but stepping back into 1st Division competition is not allowing that to be reflected on the scoreboard.
The C Graders came up against a fellow undefeated side and came up short by 1 solitary goal.
These girls are also improving and we hope that the results continue to come our way and that we may see our 1st netball finals side; time will tell !
In football, the U18s came up against another undefeated side and had a real game on their hands at 3/4 time. To the teams credit, they blew Healesville away in the last to win by 9 goals and remain on top.
The Reserves also came up against strong opposition and came away with a 6 goal win. Its the first time in a long time that they have beaten Healesville and their performances this year have been very consistant.
The Seniors controlled the 1st Qtr but kicked 1.7, only to then fall right away in the 2nd Qtr and be down by nearly 6 goals at halftime. To their credit, they fought back with a 10 goal to 7 goal 2nd half but the halftime margin had been too great and they fell short by 17 points.
A pretty dissapointing result after the previous weeks 4 Qtr effort to beat Warburton.
This week see's the Interleague Weekend and a Bye for all club sport. The Yarra Valley will travel to St.Arnaud to play the North Central Football Netball League.
Our congratulations goes to the following players who have been selected - Seniors : Nick Broomhall, Pat Rosier and Dylan Troutman.
U18s : Callum Eade, Declan Fitzgerald and Luke Hill.
Our best wishes go to you all !
Our next match is set down for Saturday 29th May when we head across to Upwey/Tecoma FNC. If you're looking for a bit of a footy fix this weekend though, you can head out to Woori Yallock this Sunday and watch the "Young Bloods" in action. The U10s start at 11am, get along to watch our future stars in action.
Thats all for now, keep an eye on the website for all the latest news, scores, photos and even Timmy "Tojo" Walls favourite 13 songs of all time.
