Hi to all members & supporters,
Last Saturday was a day of mixed results on-field but off-field, it was clearly a huge win for the OFCFNC.
Our C Grade netballers continued their unbeaten start to the year, whilst our B & A Grade sides were very competitive, but ultimately outclassed by some very good Warburton opposition. In football, the Reserves were pipped at the siren by a couple of kicks, whilst the U18s also continued their unbeaten start to the year. The Seniors got up by 2 goals in a closely fought contest against very good opposition. Our step back into Division 1 Competition is going pretty well with all teams being very competitive. We still have much improvement in all sides but the signs for better days are showing !
We were very fortunate to be granted the Worksafe VCFL Netball "Game of the Month" as well on the weekend and what a day it turned out to be. We hosted clinics, photo sessions, 3 netball matches and a function for 100 guests in the Olinda Hall. To all those who helped put the day together, and it goes back nearly 3 months when planning began, thankyou for all your efforts. It went absolutely brilliantly, and the feedback we have recieved from many guests shows, that we were able to showcase our great club in the best possible way.
We had the pleasure of having Ashlee Howard (Melbourne Vixens) and Sharelle McMahon (Australian Captain & Melbourne Vixens) as a guest of the club throughout the day. They arrived at 9.30am and participated in clinics, watching matches, key note speaking and the coin toss for the A Grade match. They dedicated over 5 hours of there day to make our day such a success and we are extremely thankful for this.
All in all, we had a record gate, record canteen and a day that ranks right up there in the greatest days this club has ever experienced. Well done to all !
A reminder that you can still purchase memberships and join the "Red & White Army" for 2010. Contact myself on the number below to arrange.
The Senior club travels to our old enemy the "Valley Bloods" of Healesville this weekend. This will be a hotly contested fixture in all grades.
The Junior Bloods travel out to Wesburn this Sunday.
Kindest Regards
