Life Membership GFC - 1987
Park’s came to Gormandale from Traralgon in 1979 taking up an Assistant Coach position for 2 seasons. His playing career realised an estimated 299 games before he retired. Along the way he played in 3 Senior Premierships being 1982, 86, & 89 and was Assistant Reserves Coach to great mate Mo Neave when the club won the 1994 Reserves Flag. Senior Best & Fairests in 1983 & 1986 were a highlight of his career which also saw him play for the League in the 1984 Interleague carnival. Parks was a great mover on the field, cool under pressure, and a safe mark. While he mainly played as a half back flanker as part of the renowned Neave, Hore, Parker half back line, his overhead and judgement skills could see him play well above his height. Off the field Parkes was a valuable Member of the Clubs General Committee for a period of time. In 1987 he played his 200th game and received a Life Membership, and was inducted into the Clubs Hall of Fame in 2014
