Life Membership GFC - 1984
Skippy commenced his playing career with Gormandale in 1971 and was a permanent fixture in the Senior team for many seasons on the way to playing in excess of 200 games for the club. In his early days he was a quick leading accurate kicking Full Forward and a highlight of his career was when he won the League Goal Kicking award in 1974. Skippy was moved into the midfield a bit later in his career and became a ball magnet setting up forward moves with his accurate disposal. A significant shoulder injury put a premature end to his playing career but he was fortunate to play in the clubs Reserves Premiership team in 1981. Skippy was recognised for his playing career on playing his 200 game in 1984. After retirement Skippy continued his involvement with the club coaching the Thirds for 2 years and acting as their runner for about 10 years. In that period he spent time on the Committee, as a Selector, and was also a runner for the Seniors for about 10 seasons. For his overall service to the club, Skippy was inducted into the clubs Hall of Fame in 2014
