Seniors- The side put in a much stronger effort in round 2 against Birchip Watchem. Ben Walklate started in blistering form and gave us plenty of drive. Cody Gunn, Tom Finlay and Anthony Judd all worked hard up forward creating good scoring opportunities. The hardness and class of Aaron Walklate and Mark Vigus was very welcome while credit must go to Sean O’Connor for his tireless efforts in the unenviable job of rucking all day against ‘Fridge’ Sirrett. Daniel Thiesz and David Romer were both solid down back. Some skill errors let us down again and Birchip Watchem capitalised on these and ran out 19 point winners. Our boys will gain confidence quickly as our new line up gels and despite the loss, positives can be taken from this game as we venture forward.
Reserves- Damo’s boys were undermanned this week and got jumped early by the Bulls. Ryan Moloney, Charlie Patullo, Connor Smith and Sam Postlethwaite all worked hard while the backline was ably led by Troy Sait, Will Fitzpatrick and Shane Fitzpatrick. The second half saw the Navies really lift their tackling rate and contested efforts. Joe Durie was moved forward and clunked a fine contested mark reminiscint of Matty Lloyd in his heyday. Joe went back and slotted the goal also. The distance of the goal appeared to increase the more Joe told everyone about it! Our boys outscored the Bulls in the second half but the damage was done early. Hopefully the reserves can get some much needed players back on the park soon to show their capabilities.

Under 13's
So after the break the boys were back into it at training and this morning in the cooler conditions at George Cartwright Oval they were keen as mustard to see how they'd go up against an always tough Birchip Watchem outfit.
Bang out of the blocks they came, they surprised themselves as to how well they were playing. As the sun came out and the day warmed up the boys started to run out of puff... Birchip Watchem found some form and were running hard and finding the footy. The scores were close but the coach’s instructions were simple, the game was ours to be won, and the only ones that could do that were the players themselves. Coach asked them to run it out and get around each other, team work wins games, and they certainly proved that today.

Under 16's
Coach Shane Fitzpatrick and the committee would like to thank the Birchip Watchem committee and Under 16's coach for allowing some of their players to fill in much needed positions in our team. As you are all aware that after being successful and winning the flag last year, we lost a lot of players to the senior ranks. However as a committee and Shane himself as a dedicated clubman, parent and supporter didn't want to take the easy way out and forfeit an under 16's team this season, so Shane has worked hard with the committee to gain a few permit players and the dedication of the other under 16 boys is to be commended as they work hard at training not really knowing if they can field a team each Saturday, so when you come up against opposition clubs that are willing to help you out it is certainly appreciated because at the end of the day we all want our kids to have the opportunity to play this great game that we all love. So again to Birchip Watchem we are certainly thankful for your support and help.
