Earlier in the year, the Bloods Senior Footballers and A Grade netballers wore red uniforms on a day we referred to as 'awareness day’. The brainchild of our Senior Coach Aaron Tymms, the day was designated to supporting a chosen charity - Cystic Fibrosis Community Care.
The Davis family have been involved with the Melton Bloods for a number of years. Greg is our current President, and his son Ryan a senior footballer at the club. Greg’s daughter Rebecca has grown up with Cystic Fibrosis - a disease which affects the lungs and digestive system. It was fitting that the Bloods did their bit to assist a charity close to our hearts.
We can report that a total of $12,862.74 was donated to Cystic Fibrosis Community Care.
The fundraising efforts extended far wider than just the Melton Football & Netball Club. We are very grateful to the BFNL clubs who assisted us with this fundraiser by placing collection tins at their canteens/bars, or by selling Cystic Fibrosis Merchandise.
We are also very thankful to many of our senior footballers who contributed their match payments towards the fundraiser, to those who attended the Ladies Day Luncheon which supported the fundraiser, and to the businesses that contributed with donations or sponsorships.
The Melton Football & Netball Club, and the wider Ballarat Football & Netball League Community, should be very proud of their collective efforts. The final result far exceeded our expectations and shows the positive impact that football and netball clubs have within the community.
