Hello All,
Not sure about you all, but the disappointment of the kids not playing really kicked in on Sunday with what was supposed to be round 1. What made it even worse was how nice the day was and how great it would have been watching and supporting the kids as they had a kick.
This brings me to an update on the current situation, which although still quite vague does have some positive aspects. The SMJFL together with the clubs have been reviewing a range of possible scenarios and options for the 2020 season, including the possibility of a season with no football (Let us hope it doesn’t come to that!). Our club like the league is planning and ready to proceed with a season once the government and medical advice provides clear direction and approval for community sport to resume. Now the earliest the season is likely to begin is early to mid-July and the latest the season could begin is early to mid-August. The season will most likely be modified (number of games, reduced or no finals, no Lightning Carnivals, etc.) and any changes will be determined based upon when the season can begin. There are no dates locked in stone at the moment as the situation with the virus is still changing quite quickly, however the good news is the season hasn’t been cancelled, just delayed, even if it means a start date in August.
With the delay in mind, we are still trying to keep up the engagement and activities, so the kids keep fit and keep a ball in hand and so a couple of other items of interest include:
1. Zoom fitness sessions – Nick Thompson, Built Fit will be running a low-key boot camp type session via Zoom each Thursday at 4:30pm to help keep the kids fit.
Here is the link and details to join the boot camp sessions:
