Hello All,
My name is Ryan Hammond and I’m honoured to be the latest president of this great junior footy club, the Waverley Park Hawks.
A little bit about myself, I have a son who has played with the club for four years and for the last three years, I have been involved as coach. Before this time, I was associated with the club as an Auskick coach. I’ve been a general committee member for twelve months and assist where I can. I have a battery distribution business with an office in Mulgrave, so work and live locally.
Firstly, I’d like to pass on a huge thanks to our outgoing president Paul Shaw and congratulate him on an outstanding job over the last three years. Paul held the role during an exciting, yet challenging time, and along with many others was involved in the great success of the new clubrooms as well as subsequent time of having no club rooms through which he did an outstanding job. He vacates the position with the club in great order, with brand new state of the art rooms, a fantastic girls program which is growing year on year, and a very successful year for the club which this year included three premierships, five league best and fairest winners and a number of runner up and place getters in the league best and fairest. The good news is that although Paul is stepping down from the role of president, he will continue as a general committee member and his expertise will not be lost, so thank you Paul.
I’d also like to thank Rebecca Coutts who will be stepping down from the secretary role and from the committee in general. In what can be a tough role, Bec has done a fantastic job in her two years as secretary and has been instrumental in ensuring many of the key workings behind the scenes have run smoothly, her enthusiasm and organisation will be missed.
On the other side, a huge welcome to Sharon Adams who has not only joined the committee but put her hand up for the role of secretary. It is also a pleasure to welcome back Lindsay Moore who has re-joined the committee and will be assisting Sharon in her role where required.
So along with Alex Vicic and Denis Irvine who will again be Vice Presidents, and Adam White continuing his role as treasurer, we are fortunate enough to have many of the general committee members stay on and continue their excellent work, which I know will make my job a whole lot easier.
I really do encourage anyone who has any interest in assisting the club to attend the committee meetings and volunteer to join in any of the roles. We need and welcome parents from the younger age groups (8-11s) to assist, as they are the future of the club.
As previously mentioned, I’m honoured and excited to take on the role and always open to have a chat, so feel free to give me a call if there is anything I can assist with.
Best regards,
Ryan Hammond
