Information for the Upcoming 2016 GCJBL Season
Great news - Somerset College has been accepted by the Gold Coast City Regional Basketball Association (GCCRBA) as a new affiliated club competing in the GCJBL starting in the 2016 season.
At this stage we have enough interest from Somerset College students to fill the following teams:
- Under 13 boys and Under 13 girls team
- Two Under 15 boys teams
- Two Under 17 boys team
We are hopeful of being able to fill more teams once students return to school and we are able to advise the whole school community.
If there are insufficient numbers to enter a team in an age group, there may be the possibility of players playing up an age group. This will be determined by Mr Whish-Wilson in negotiation with parents and players.
If students register and there isn’t a suitable team to compete in, then all monies paid will be refunded.
The club will aim to enter teams in the following age groups, please refer to the players born column to assist with calculations.

Practices:
Practices and trials will begin from week 4, 15 February 2016. Teams will train once a week for 90 minutes and play games on Friday night. If there is a reason why a student can’t train with their team then we will support them in finding another team to train with.
A schedule of trainings will be available for you soon.
Uniform:
Uniform orders will be placed mid-February. Players will be advised of an opportunity to be fitted for uniforms, this is likely to be during a lunch break. Uniform sizing samples will be available. Numbers on the back of jerseys and shorts will be allocated by the school. Uniforms will be privately owned.
We have an agreement with Gold Coast Basketball that our Somerset College Athletic singlets, with numbers written on our arms will be acceptable until our uniform order arrives.
