Update from the Dodgers (20 November)

Hello to all Dodgers families and players!

We hope you have been enjoying the final weeks of the 'Winter' 2020 season - although judging by the forecasts, this weekend looks to be anything but wintery.

A few updates from us:

Please save the date for our presentations afternoon - Sunday 6 December

We had such a blast at our presentations afternoon at the indoor basketball court at the Hedley Beare Centre (Old Stirling College) last year that we are going with that format again this year.

Please put a date saver in your diary for Sunday afternoon, 6 December.

At this stage, it is likely we will split the presentations into two groups, mainly due to COVID restrictions but also to help with the flow of the afternoon:
  • Under 10s, 12s and 14s from 2pm to 3.30pm
  • Under 16s / Under 19s from 3.30pm to 5pm
We are working on getting a sausage sizzle happening (gold coin donation), and we'll be undertaking some ball games (with prizes) in addition to the presentations.

It promises to be a great afternoon to finish the season, so please make sure you come along!

Dodgers registrations to open soon for the next season of basketball!

Basketball ACT has advised us of the start date for the next season of basketball.

This will again be a longer single season (12 March to 12 September - incorporating the two finals weekends).

We are currently working on finalising our registration form, and hope to have this available over the next few weeks to give our Dodgers families maximum time to register.

We urge you to register early, as this will really help us to determine numbers and trial dates/venues etc.

Early registration will also help ensure your uniforms arrive before the season starts.

Please note that, due to insurance requirements, players who are not registered with us will not be able to undertake any additional Dodgers training opportunities that may come up over the summer holidays, so it is best to register early.

In terms of trials, these are likely to commence in the first week of the school term next year, but please stay posted - we are currently working on setting some trial dates, and will advise you further as soon as these are locked in.

Call out for 2021 coaches

If you are interested in coaching a Dodgers team next season, please send an expression of interest with details of your playing/coaching experience to our VP of Player and Coach Development, Grant Keys, at wcwddevelopment@gmail.com.

Call out for volunteers

We are still seeking a new Secretary for the Dodgers Committee, and an Under 16 Boys Group Co-ordinator - please email wcwdcomms@gmail.com if you are interested.

Discounted Club Lime memberships - only 5 left!

Thanks to our great sponsors, Club Lime, we have heavily discounted Club Lime Memberships available to Dodgers families and players. These cost only $750 (they are normally valued at over $1,294)! Be quick - 5 of our 10 discounted memberships have already been sold, so we only have 5 of these great deals left! Email wcwdcomms@gmail.com if you are interested. Thanks to Club Lime for their incredible support of the Dodgers and to Lee Hodges for once again organising these great deals on behalf of our Club.

We are super excited about getting into the next season of basketball, and look forward to providing you with more details in the weeks to come!

Best wishes from the Dodgers Committee
