2015-16 UTS Northside Premier League Regular Season Wrap Up

Overall, UTS Northside finished 6th in Club Championship but only 1 point behind 5th Place Dural Warriors and whilst unsuccessful in getting into the top four, we closed the gap from last year between us and the rest of the pack. For the 2015-16 our congratulations to Mascot Vipers who took out the Club Championship. In our own match-up against Vipers we shared the points 13/13 at home in Round 6 and it was still close for the return Round 13 fixture with Vipers edging us out 14/11.. we are not so far apart.

With the completion of the fourteen home & away rounds, UTS Northside have four teams that have qualified for the semi-finals, which is double what we had last in 2014-15.

Four players from across the club have moved into the ‘top 5’ goal scorers for their respective age groups… Max Martinello, Lucas Rainbird, Harry McCarthy and Daisy Arrowsmith.

Our Girls Academy, Boys Academy, Girls Development League and Boys Development League teams have improved significantly throughout the season, they have played some skilful & entertaining Futsal and play for the enjoyment of the game.

Although our first season with an AWD side got off to a good start, some retrospective FNSW rule changes resulted in the season being cut short to just five games however, with more age appropriate recruitment already planned, the AWD guys & gals will be back for 2016-17.

We had a record number of fourteen players represent NSW Thunder & Lightning in the FFA nationals.

UTS Northside also had its first player selected to represent the Futsalroos… well done to Grant Lynch.

With the conclusion of the regular season, the Club Championship teams standings have resulted in four teams progressing into the finals series:

12 Boys - 6th
13 Girls - 6th
14 Boys - 3rd … and into the finals series
15 Girls - 3rd … and into the finals series
16 Boys - 7th
17 Girls - 3rd … and into the finals series
Youth Men - 5th
Open Women - 4th … and into the finals series
Open Men - 6th

On reflection, a step improvement from our first season in Premier League to our second… what will 2016-17 deliver?

“As a team, we fight for every inch for every minute, every second of the game, because that is the difference between winning and losing”
(Extract from Al Pacino's ‘Inch By Inch’ speech from ‘Any Given Sunday’)
