Anton grew up in Perth, Western Australia and previously played for Mount Lawley Football Club in the Western Australian Amateur Football League. He is a passionate supporter of Subiaco Football Club in the Western Australian Football League and also supports the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League.
In 2012, a 24 year old, Anton Tidmarsh was walking around Fritsch Holzer Park and was enticed by Bruce Hill to join the Yarras. Since then, Anton has played 32 matches for the Yarras in all three grades and has kicked three goals. Anton has been a great help around the club and is often seen behind the bar or the canteen, or being the Master of Ceremonies at our major functions.
In seasons 2012 and 2013, Anton was fit and his commanding voice showed he was a leader in the Reserves team which he was rewarded with a few games in the seniors.
In 2014, Anton assisted the club by umpiring the Thirds before he was required to play in the Reserves and unfortunately seriously injured his ankle during the match. After recovering, and back for his first game in the Reserves, Anton had a serious knee injury, side-lining him for the next three years.
Anton took the opportunity to become the Reserves non-player assistant coach under Daniel Mahoney and see the Yarras play in two consecutive preliminary finals. He recommitted under Patrick Tuck for the following two years and saw the Yarras play in two elimination finals. Anton was there firing the players up with the casual bump in the locker rooms and his emphatic voice to ring through the players’ ears.
Anton’s previous four years as an assistant coach, his leadership position at his work, and his social standing among the players gives the committee confidence that he will succeed in this role.
We are excited to see what structures and changes Anton will implement to improve the Reserves and hopefully be standing up on the dais holding up the premiership cup in the final game for the season. The senior coaching staff, being Daisy and Tucky plan to assist Anton in implementing winning formulas.
Daisy will remain as Senior coach and he will be assisted by former Reserves Coach, Patrick Tuck. Dallas Saxby is hoping to attain back-to-back premierships as he will begin his fifth year as Thirds coach.
Preseason training begins at 6:15pm on 5th December 2017 and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday until 19th December 2017. The coaching staff are hoping that with a small number of trainings, every player will commit to all sessions.
WE ARE READY FOR SEASON 2018, ARE YOU?
