SOUTH YARRA CLUB NOTES
On behalf of the Committee, the South Yarra FNC thanks all players, support staff, Sponsors, supporters and past players who were part of the Club during Season 2016.
Thanks in particular to all of our Football and Netball Coaching staff headed by Daisy Stegehuis (Seniors), Patrick Tuck (Reserves), Dallas Saxby (Thirds), Bernard Brady (Supers), Darren Joyce (Masters), Brett Devlin (Under 8’s), Owen Pearse (Auskick), Maggie Riley (Netball) and all of their assistants during the Season as well as the Trainers in Mark Ghaly, Sarah Lombard, Sarah Lee, Mario Shehata and Peter Greene. The time put in by these individuals is always underestimated and greatly appreciated.
Congratulations to the A Grade Netballers and especially coach Maggie who took out the Division 4 Premiership by one goal over Heatherton White and to Brades and the Over 35 Superules footballers who were Premiers by points over Brunswick. The Club was also represented in the finals by the B Grade Netballers who unfortunately lost the Division 6 Preliminary Final as well as the Firsts and Reserves footballers who both lost out in their Elimination finals against Hallam by 3 points and 19 points respectively in the first week of the finals. Of the Club’s other teams, the C Grade Netballers made a brave challenge for a finals spot in Division 7 in the latter half of the season but dropped off the pace near the end of the season; the under 8’s did very well in their first competition year and the first foray by the Club into juniors for over 30 years; Auskick continued to grow in numbers; the Thirds footballers began the season with 3 big losses but clawed their way into finals contention only to drop from 5th to 6th in the final round of the season when they lost by 2 points and the Over 45 Masters won 4 games out of 9 to finish mid table in the 11 team competition. Congrats to the eventual winners in all the grades in which the Yarras competed.
Finally, thanks to all the Sponsors who have supported the Club in 2016. These include The Tower Hotel, Kingston Trophies, Camberwell Toyota, Rounds Real Estate, Bendigo Bank (Surrey Hills/ Canterbury/ Ashburton/ Balwyn), Avenue Press, Swan Street Auctions, Juventino Restaurant, Yo Get It, Brady Tiling, Simply Health (Chiropractic), Masters (East Hawthorn), Q Dental, Melbourne Periodontal, Estyla, Rainbow Meats, Safety-Wear, McKenzie Allen Lawyers, Club Bid, Avon Tyrepower (Canterbury), Hunter Industrial, Signs Here, Nicholson Plumbing and all the 250 Club members, Player sponsors and Supporters of the Annual Auction night.
