Round 2.
First XI
The First XI played host to Bushy Park as we tried to go 2-0 to start the season. Due to wet, cold and windy conditions the start of the game got pushed back 45 minutes; this resulted in the match being a 45 over match.
We bowled first, Dion taking an early wicket thanks to a blinder of a catch taken by Coach Kenny at second slip. Bourkey was able to take the next wicket, which, quickly resulted in Dion taking another one. Bushy Park at 3/46
This left Bushy Park with their best two batsmen and they smacked us around the park for a bit putting on a partnership of 70. Around 15 overs in, we had another rain delay – reducing the game to a 40 over match.
The rain delay did wonders as Binky was able to break the partnership and from there wickets started to tumble. Once Dion had bowled his 9th and final over Bink threw the ball to Brady and with his very first over tore the game apart. A wicket on the 4th ball of the over, he backed that delivery up by bowling the next bloke and then as an added party trick smacked the next bloke on the foot, plumb in front to give himself a hat-trick.
Shortly later Bink was able to knock over the inform batsmen, and once he departed the last two wickets fell almost immediately. 3/116 turned into all out for 145.
Bink 4/33
Brady 3/16
Dion 2/74
Bourkey 1/20
The batting was dismal, as many batsmen did not put enough value on their wicket. Bourkey started the trend dancing down the wicket second over in, stumped comfortably. Hoggett and Dion built a small partnership and we were at 1/52. Unfortunately, the inform Hoggett then picked out the fielder in the deep falling for 32.
Dion got stumped on a leg side wide for 10, which began the almighty collapse. At 2/65 we lost a colossal 6/7, and in almighty trouble. Binky and Tyson tried to withstand some of the pressure but Bushy Park were ultimately able to take the last few wickets cheaply as we were rolled for a disappointing 85.
Hoggett 32
Dion 10
Binky 9
Second XI
The Second XI played host to Sorell and unfortunately played one short as they just fell short of their first win of the limited overs season.
Bowling first Tadhg got us off to the perfect start removing both openers, neither of them troubling the scorers. 30 Runs down the track and Tadhg had knocked over his third wicket. His opening-bowling partner Brady F then started to take wickets, taking the next 3 and putting us in a strong position with Sorell at 6/52.
The Sorell lower order were able to put on valuable runs and negotiated our remaining bowlers with partnerships of 40, 25 and 30 making them able to post a reasonable score. Brycey and Rowdy were able to make the breakthroughs.
Sorell managed to post 9/146.
Brady F 3/30
Tadhg 3/39
Brycey 2/23
Rowdy 1/9
With the bat, we succumbed to constant wickets for almost the duration. Rowdy batted superbly for the duration of the innings blasting an almost chanceless 64 including 8 – 4s and 1 maximum. At the other end was where the wickets fell with none of the top 6 able to put a partnership together with him.
Skipper Huigsloot came in at 7 and managed to put on a partnership with Rowdy as they put on 56 giving us a huge chance to come away with the points. Huigi fell for 15, Rowdy fell shortly after with us needing 28 Runs from the last few overs.
The remaining overs were bowled out, as we fell 11 runs short, 7/135.
Rowdy 64
Huigi 15
A. Jones 8*
