Thoughts on the result on the weekend.
We were coming off a great win to Riddell and we were feeling positive about how the team was playing. We knew Wallan would be tough but the team played well early and we were only down by a couple of goals at three-quarter time. Unfortunately, we missed a couple of opportunities in attack and our defence pressure dropped off in the last quarter. It’s great to see we can be competitive with the top teams. But I’d love to see us doing this more consistently.
Key moment that stood out for you in the game
Having confidence in yourself and others positively contributes to great performance and enjoying the game. What was so great to see on the weekend was Bonnie backing herself and putting up more shots in the goal circle. This resulted in Bonnie hitting 92% goaling accuracy for the game!
Key players that impressed and why
I was particularly impressed with the defensive end this week. The centre pass pressure was fantastic, and we had great hands over the ball as Wallan moved in their attack. Taylor and Sophie made their attack end work hard, and Mel overshadowed her player in the first half with a high number of intercepts and tips.
What are you looking for the group to improve on
For us it’s about consistency. We started off the season with one or two strong quarters each week and while we’re making progress on this already we can continue to improve. One other area of focus in the coming weeks is our connection and movement in the goal third between our mid courters and goalers.
Thoughts ahead of this weekend's match
Macedon is one game ahead of us on the ladder and we’ve improved considerably since we last played them. So if we show up and play our best netball consistently across the game we will be competitive.
