This report brouht to you by Astoria Honda - see Julia Connell for a great deal. After a very slow start where we were down by 22 points at half time, 15 points at 3/4 time we managed to claw back to a draw with a strong final term. The reserves were well beaten, the thirds had to forfeit and the Under 19's went down by just 2 points in a spririted effort.
It is fair to say the seniors do not yet have consistency and the best is pretty good but the lapses in between are not up to standard. However, a draw is better than a loss and the best part about it was the spirit shown in the last quarter where we scored 3 goals 1 to their 4 points. Ed Limon, in for his first game for the year, was our best and Chris Povey kicked 4 goals.
The reserves were beaten by a much better team on the day but showed some good signs and some good passages at times.
The thirds had to forfeit which was a bitter disappointment given it was our home game. Due to unavailabilites in the seniors and reserves we did not have any overflow come down to the thirds. We have to do some work here before next game.
The Under 19s fought out a thrilling battle with Oakleigh at home and were a touch unlucky to go down by just 2 points. Trent Beard kicked 3 goals and Scott McPherson was named our best player.
We will need to work harder at organised training over the next 2 weeks and privately over Easter.
