Match Review Highlights - Seniors draw enough to guarantee double chance - Reserves below their best in low-scoring affair - Under 19s prep for finals with solid win - Colts win clutch game to secure finals berth Match Reviews Seniors Mazenod’s draw against Marcellin certainly wasn’t the best performance for the year, but it showed plenty of grit and was enough to secure a top two finish. Both teams had plenty to play for on Saturday. The Nodders needed a win or draw from their last two games to secure the double chance while Marcellin were fighting to avoid relegation. Marcellin were actually one of the form teams of the competition, losing just one of their past five matches and came ready to play. Mazenod failed to take advantage of the scoring end in the first quarter and Marcellin made the Nodders pay in the second, kicking 5 goals to nil. The half-time deficit was 18 points. The Nodders finally clicked in the third to kick seven goals, but a late goal to Marcellin didn’t give Mazenod much to defend in the last. However, leaders Ben Phibbs, Rob Mann, Nick Thomas and Stu Inglis in his 150th, stood tall and held Marcellin to just three goals in the last. It wasn’t a pretty way to secure a crack at the second semi final, but it showed plenty of character.
