Mazenod consolidated its hold on third position on the ladder with a strong team performance winning by 117 points over other top 4 place holder Peninsula Old Boys.
Mazenod started strongly kicking 6 goals to 1 into the wind, with Gus Patti, squid Chamberlain and S Black providing plenty go grunt around the stoppages. Nick Thomas and Mark Weekes were pumping the ball inside the arc on numerous occassion to give the big forwrds plenty of opportunities to convert. Rees Thomas (3 goals) worked his man over all day, and if not for his radar been off at times would have ended up with half a dozen. On the other hand Michael Johnson couldn't miss kick 4 and marking everything in his vacinity, a very hand inclusion after a nasty hand injury a couple of weeks back.
Nick Jook continued his good start to the year with 4 goals and we welcombed Dave Regan back into the side with a couple of long goals in the second half. Next up Old Camberwell and a chance to cement our spot in the top 4.
Mazenod 21.16-142 v POBFC 3.7-25
The reserves continued on their good form with a 25 point win over Peninsula at home. Mazenod was strong over the ball and a highlight was their contested possesions against a fierce Peninsula outfit. Bookends Chumma & Ant Bray led brilliantly from the front to guide the team to three wins in a row. The highlight of the day was the return of R. Mann and the continued good form of P. Flanagan, T. Bailey who will be pushing for senior selection over the coming weeks.
Mazenod 13.15-93 v POBFC 10.8-68
After a tremoultous week with the sacking of captain D.Micallef, Barrel stepped up to the plate to take on the role. Leading by example they continued the thirds strong start to the season winning by 125 points with rainman topping the goal kickers with 14 snags.
Mazenod 22.15-147 v Old Ivanhoe 3.4-22
In the 19s the boys dropped a game out of the four with a tough 35 point loss to Collegians. In a tough tight contect the result doesn't show how close the game was. With the Cincotta boys and McCarthy leading the way and young Hayes finding his feet in the side the group wil look to bounce back next week at home to Parkdale.
