In a complete turn from last weeks weather conditions, Gingin took on Dalwallinu at home under a blazing sun. The reserves game can be described as nothing short of a belting. The odds weren't in Dalwallinu's favour right from the start when only 15 men took to the oval for the warm-up. One more made 16 and Gingin had to sit two extra on their bench to match the Dally numbers. The even numbers did not, however, make for an even game and Gingin got off to a better than decent start booting 11 goals in the first half while keeping Dalwallinu scoreless. The second half was much the same although Dally managed to score a goal in the third quarter. The final score read Gingin 24 goals 20 (164) to Dally's 1 goal 0 (6). Once again the Gingin reserves side led by coach Paul Fewster worked like a well-oiled machine to give the League side something to strive for and it was the young-guns of the side that led by example. Jayden Williams had a blinder as did Mikey Polette and Tyson Greene. Blake Cocking and Jordan Tai worked the ball through the middle and yet again making his appearance in the sides best Jeffrey Cheriton was reliable both up forward and down back. Big boys up forward Jarrad Sewell and Luke Gillett kicked 7 and 4 respectively. This brings the teams percentage to 1137 well ahead of next in line Dowerin on 230.
To the league and the bulldogs have been rifled with injury this season but with some new players into the side were looking to give the Gingin boys a red hot shot. After a short spurt of some messy football, halfway into the first quarter the eagles were back on track and kicked 4 goals to Dallys 1. From here on it was all downhill for the visitors and up and up for the Gingin boys. At half time Gingin were 11 goals up and after a few lucky goals in the second half to Dally the score at the final siren read Gingin 24 goals 18 (162) to Dalwallinu 8 goals 5 (53). Everything Dally came up with Gingin had an answer for in what was a physical game in the end. Geoff Rouse answered his ex-team's critics by booting 12 goals. Rheece Bartel and Jack Woodruff had plenty of the ball as did ginger nuts Craig Ellar and Chris Samata. American (though perhaps now 'local' would be a better description) Jason Wilhelm was named in the teams best for another outstanding game up againt one of the League's most experienced Ruckmen in Brent Leeson. The win plus a Wongan loss to Dowerin over the weekend puts Gingin on top of the ladder.
Great timing sees the Mortlock League with a bye this weekend for the Colts Carnival held at Goomalling. Good Luck to the Gingin boys named in the Mortlock side. After the much needed break, Gingin travel to Dowerin for what is sure to be a battle of the best. This game will be followed by two more byes and the hopeful return of injured eagles Justin Kuhl, Andrew Fewster, Marc Chesterfield, Alan Barry, Glenn Britten and Brendon Fewster.
