Finally a home game for Gingin saw their supporters out in full force. The eagles hosted Goomalling last Saturday and the Reserves kicked off the day with a win. Continuing in their oustanding form, the Gingin Reserves side kept their opponents scoreless the entire game, no doubt breaking a Mortlock record. A total of 14 different goal scorers shows the depth in the side and that everyone is getting their hands on the footy. Best player on the day was big Jeffrey Cheriton followed closely behind by Aaron Crofts. Veteran Jarrad Sewell kicked 8 goals and continues his reliable form in front of goal. John Puglia had a good game and Andrew Yukick ran all day. There isn't a lot else to say about the game.
The league side ran out of the Sel Wills changerooms pumped from last weeks enilation of Calingiri. A slow first quarter and Gingin were looking average and lucky to be two goals up at quarter time. From this point on, Gingin kept Goomalling to just 4 extra goals while they themselves went on to kick another 20. Bootylicious Geoff Rouse kicked a whopping 16 goals and fell just 3 goals short of kicking the club record of 19 goals in one game. Credit goes to the midfielders for accurate delivery into the forwardline giving Rouse and also Brendon Fewster and Glenn Britten every chance to kick goals. Number 1 culprit and back in form after returning from injury was Rheece Bartel who got plenty of the footy. As did Alan Barry and young-gun proving his 'worth' Brayden Worth. Big Red Rooster Craig Ellar was also handy on the day.
Next week, the boys head down the road to play second on the ladder side Toodyay. Toodyay have dropped just one game this season and together with the Gingin Eagles below average track record at Toodyay Oval, it is sure to be a test.
