There is a buzz of excitement surrounding the Sel Wills Clubrooms, home to the Gingin Eagles, as the boys gear up twice a week in preparation for season 2012. Last year was a dream come true for players, coaches and supporters of the club with both teams flying through the season undefeated, breaking a Mortlock Assoctiation record, and topping it off by winning the double flags. It seems almost impossible to top such an outstanding year but the boys are putting all preparations in place to give it a red hot shot. Training began in January with a word-of-mouth invitation from Coach Christian Kelly to those players wishing to "jog laps around the oval". The news must have spread because the first three training sessions saw an average of 25 boys in attendance. This year, we will see the return of last years greats including much loved veterans Christian Kelly and Paul Fewster returning as coaches. Speaking of veterans, reliable goal kicker Glen Britten will return and be assisting in skills coaching as well as being a vital mentor for young and keen players. Further excitement is brought by visiting American Jason Wilhelm who will be playing for the Eagles this year. Standing at 6ft7, Jason has been playing Aussie Rules Football in America with much success. From coaches, players, committee and supports: Welcome to the Gingin Football Club Jason.
Training is on Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Gingin Football Oval. Supporters and Sponsors are welcome to come down to watch and support their club in preparations for an outstanding year in 2012.
Keep your eye on the 'Photo Board' under the 'Trophy Room' tab for photos of last years victories as well as 2012 highlights.
