The Western Jets and Victoria University formed a partnership in 1999 which is still going strongly today. Over the journey the two organisations have developed a range of innovative programs some of which are still being conducted today. Some of the major achievements have been the footy in schools program, accelerated program associated with the VET football schools, Nathan Prince Scholarship, and the univeristy student placement program. Many students over the years have completed placements with the Western Jets and have gained valuable workplace experience. Significant numbers of these students have since gained employment in the AFL industry. The Western Jets are greatful for the ongoing support provided by Victoria University and recognise the ongoing mutally beneficial outcomes that are being achieved by both organisations.
On the weekend the Western Jets travelled to Bendigo for its Round 7, TAC Cup clash with the Bendigo Pioneers. The day provided a good outcome on and off the ground with the TAC drive to a game and also again provided strong recognition of the support provided by Victoria University with the following Western Jets staff, either current students or past graduates working in various capacities on the day.
