BENDIGO Pioneers clubmates Jayden Burke and Lachlan Tardrew will mark their VFL debut in this Saturday’s football action.
Burke was selected by Geelong to play Northern Blues on the Cats’ turf at Simonds Stadium.
Tardrew will play for Essendon against Richmond at Windy Hill.
Pioneers coach Brett Henderson said the call-ups were great reward for their play in the TAC Cup competition.
“Jayden’s vertical jump and versatility are major strengths,” Henderson said of the young gun from Golden Square.
“He has worked extremely hard to be a top-line player.
“Lachy’s workrate is outstanding,” he said of the Sandhurst onballer.
“He leads the club in just about every stat.
“Lachy has worked so hard on his fitness and skills and sets a great example for all his clubmates.”
The Pioneers regain Sandhurst’s Tommy Cole and Leitchville-Gunbower’s Marty Hore for this Saturday’s final game of the TAC Cup season against Murray Bushrangers at Rochester’s Moon Oval.
Hore played a key role across half-back for Essendon in last Friday night’s win against Western Bulldogs under the Queen Elizabeth Oval lights in Bendigo.
Cole was again among Geelong’s best in Sunday’s clash at Sandringham. It was his third match for Geelong this year.
The Pioneers and Murray match starts at 1.30pm on Saturday.
