The Bendigo Pioneers are asking the community to help them support a good cause.
The TAC Cup club has raised more than $7500 towards the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave, but want to reach $10,000 by next week.
The entire 41 players in the squad have been raising money towards the target by offering to have their heads shaved or coloured at training next Wednesday.
“We put a team in a couple of weeks ago and the boys have done an exceptional job,” Pioneers coach David Newett said.
“Next Wednesday all the boys get their heads shaved, there’ll be a range from skinheads to 1s, 2s, 3s and 4s.
“If we can raise $10,000 that would be gold.”
Last season’s best and fairest Jacob Chisari and team-mate Aron Morish have both raised more than $1000 individually so far.

The club hopes some local hairdressers can donate their time and clippers to help shave the players’ heads next Wednesday at Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve at 6.30pm.
Meanwhile, the Pioneers have some work to do on the training track after a practice match loss to North Ballarat Rebels last weekend.
“We had a few players out and our depth got tested, so we got stitched-up,” Newett said.
“We showed some good signs, we showed some disappointing signs as well in a few areas.
“It probably gave a perspective of where we’re sitting at this point of the year.”
The Pioneers’ last practice match will be against the Murray Bushrangers in Shepparton on March 24.
The club’s first game of the TAC Cup season is on Saturday, April 13 against the Gippsland Power at the QEO.
