League Women - Uni Rebels Vs Razzle

Uni Rebels vs Razzle always shapes up to be a good contest. With Razzle always improving and beating Jets early in the season rebels women's were always up for a tough task.  Uni rebels got the jump in the first quarter with a 18 -13 lead. Defensive pressure and run gave us a 5 point lead.  razzle bigger bodies showed their presence but the persistence and teamwork from Danielle Ponter and chantelle Lee got the ball moving.

A scrappy 3rd quarter where both teams found it hard to score. Turnovers and the pressure on defense made it hard for both teams to find baskets with rebels going into the last quarter with a 7 point lead. Rebels 38 to razzle 31.

The last quarter opened up with much more flow and scoring opportunities.  Sarah Hagan found boards to free the runners. Shavayah Lee got open to find baskets. Danielle Ponter worked tirelessly all game.

League Men - Uni Rebels Vs Razzle

A a highly contested game between Uni Rebels Mens and the top of the ladder Razzle team last Saturday night, Rebels jumped out to a 14-5 lead in the first thee and a half minutes of the game but Razzle quicky regrouped and chipped away the Rebels lead. Rebels Men was able to maintain the lead in the first quarter and finished with a 29 to 24 advantage.

An injury scare early in the second quarter for Uni Rebels play maker Lawrance Triplett when he slipped on a wet spot on the floor and had to be taken out to asses the injury. Razzle got the momentum in the second quarter and started to catch up with Rebels midway through the quarter 42-41 and eventually taking the lead and finishing the first half with a six point lead over Uni Rebels 46 to 52.

In the third quarter Uni Rebels wrestled the momentum back from Razzle led by Rebels Lawrance Triplett (41pts) who grabbed 14 boards, 2 assists and 3 steals; supported by Daniel Green (22pts) with 17 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks; and Jason Goodwin (19pts) with 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals. Uni Rebels had a 2 point lead to go in the the last break 69 to 67.

The game was back and forth in the fourth quarter but Razzle managed to grab the lead 74 -75 with 7 minutes left in the game. Uni Rebels tried to keep it close for the rest of the game to 87 to 89 with 2:53 left in game. But Uni Rebels could not get the lead back from Razzle and had to start fouling in the last minute of the game to get a chance to tie the game. Razzle eventually won the contest 96 to 103. The loss puts Uni Rebels Men in a 4 way share of second place with Eagles, Palmerston ans Ansett.
