U11 Girls Match Report

The Girls U11 - aka the Baby Bears -returned to the freshly turfed Akuna Oval for a massive Friday night game against Everton Wolves.

A huge home crowd support met the girls as well as a special presentation of brand new jerseys with 'hot pink' Bears logo from our fantastic sponsors Michelle and Stewart McLeod from Michelle McLeod Real Estate

After proudly receiving their new jerseys it was time for the girls to get down to some serious business starting with a warm up and new 'Dab' team huddle!

The first quarter the Bears off to a cracking start with some amazing goals kicked by Beth Morris, managing to break away with her lightning pace and kick from very tight angles.

Tahlia Ember controlling the centre, making big tackles and long kicks into the forward pack. Our defence with Kenzie Park always first to the ball to get out of trouble.

The second quarter saw the girls get into a nice rhythm and start hand passing around Everton. Taylah Somerville bouncing the ball and linking up with Kate Marsden and slipping neat passes to Kenzie to use her pace and evasion skills to get the ball to centres.

Lucy Wilkinson and Tahlia Ember showing what they have learned on the training ground and both putting some big kicks through the posts and working great as a team.

The third quarter saw a couple of amazing big marks from both Madi McCue and Jasmine Dekker, awesome skills girls. Emily Brunton relentless with her tackling and hand passes off to Katie Ward. Katie having covered most of the newly laid turf at Akuna oval with another display of relentless running!

One more huddle then the girls got stuck in to the last quarter. All team members supporting one another, Charli Dunne unwell for this match but soon to be back in action for the final four games of the season. Kate Marsden again showing great kicking skills to score the final goals!

All in all the best team performance from the Baby Bears this season in a really good spirited game with a great Everton Wolves side.

Thanks to all that came to support and to our superb sponsors Michelle and Stewart McLeod from Michelle McLeod Real Estate who got to be part of the girls great game and see their awesome skills on display.
