Pre-Season training gets serious

The 2018 Tigers pre-season camp held at the Emu Gully Education Facility at Helidon last Saturday was a tough encounter for the playing group in what is hoped will help shape their season in 2018.

The players worked through a range of very challenging tasks designed to aid the development of skills through experiencing small windows into what the Australian Diggers endured during World War 1 and 2 as well as the Vietnam War.

The team heard about and faced the tunnels of Vietnam, the bombed out landscape of the western front in France, a sample of the hardship endured on the Kokoda Track as well as the nightmares of the Burma Railway.

The staff at Emu Gully did a great job in setting the scene for these real life events with detailed stories of the terrible reality of individuals who endured these times.

The tasks involved were designed to engender mateship, leadership, initiative and persistence, all critical attributes for team sport. It was clear from the responses from the boys that this was a very challenging day, both physically and mentally which will have a lasting impression on them as they further reflect on the activities and information provided on the day.

The club would like to thank Chris and Ethan from Emu Gully for their planning and delivery of what was a very professionally managed day.

The pre-season continues over the next few weeks with the first Alpha Sport contest scheduled for Saturday 10th March 2018 against Aspley at Brendale..
