56 very lucky auskickers from Chittering got a once in a lifetime opportunity to take centre stage at Patterson's Stadium. On Saturday the 14th June. the very exicted Chittering contingent and 16 parent helpers ran out at half time of the AFL match between West Coast Eagles and the Gold Coast Suns. The auskickers (from Year 1,2 & 3)played in front of a 31,000+ crowd and will treasure this experience for years to come.
It was certainly a day to remember!! Nic Naitanui celebrated his 100th game and West Coast Captain Darren Glass was acknowledged as he retired. Glass was farwelled with a lap of honour and walked around the oval during the half time interval whilst our auskikcers played their grid games. To top it all off we were also priviledged to see Brownlow Medalist Gary Ablett in action. A brilliant day to be at the footy!
At three quarter time, Rick the Rock Eagle also paid the Bronco's a suprise visit and before we knew it , many of the Chittering crew were up on the big screen rocking away with him to the "Eagle Rock" . Everyone enjoyed being up close to the action and it was a great way to top off an already wonderful day. The match went down to the wire in the final term but eventually saw the West Coast Eagles hold off a galant Suns comeback to narrowly secure a 3 point victory!
What an action packed and awesome day out for the Chittering Broncos!!!!!.
Very Special thanks to Auskick Co-ordinator Paul Eddy for co-ordinating the event and to all the parent helpers for their assistance getting our auskickers ready for their special day!
