WEST Adelaide has beaten Ainslie by 77 points in the Foxtel Cup. West move through to the second round of the state-league competition and will meet Williamstown in the next round.
After holding a three-goal lead at the first change, a second quarter blitz saw West kick five goals to Ainslie's one to open up the game.
Good contributers for West were AFL listed players Jason Davenport and Brad Moran.
Ainslie was not disgraced in the defeat. Ian Lawless had 17 touches, while Ben Hughes, with 14 possessions and one of Ainslie's three goals, was also prominent. Other good players were Rowan Andrews in the ruck and Damien Bowles on the forward line
The early loss of 2010 leading goalkicker Nick Paine to a hamstring injury effected Ainslie's scoring power.
Ainslie's backline, though under pressure, was trying its best but the sheer weight of inside-50s was too difficult for it to handle.
The second half saw the Bloods continue on their way. Though a better effort in the third term saw Ainslie only lose the quarter by five points, they were unable to sustain that pressure in the last term.
The Bloods kicked four goals in the last quarter while keeping Ainslie goalless.
